RELIGION CAN GET IN THE WAY

This powerful message challenges us to examine what happens when barriers stand between the people we love and their encounter with Jesus. Drawing from Luke 5 and the unforgettable story of the paralyzed man lowered through a roof, we're confronted with a sobering reality: sometimes the biggest obstacle keeping people from Jesus isn't sin or doubt, but religion itself. The Pharisees and religious teachers had packed the house so full that a desperate man couldn't reach the Healer. How often do our rules, our traditions, our religious performance create the same barrier? The beauty of this passage lies in four determined friends who refused to accept no for an answer. They got creative, they got disruptive, and they literally tore through the roof to get their friend to Jesus. What moves us most is that Jesus saw their faith and responded to it. Our faith for others matters. This isn't a call to be pushy or forceful in sharing our faith, but rather to be gentle, respectful, and relational while maintaining an unwavering commitment to helping people encounter Christ. The central question we must answer is simple yet profound: Who is the person on the mat in our world? Who around us is broken, stuck, or hurting? And what barriers are we willing to overcome to help them meet Jesus?
