Helping our kids go deeper in Jesus and build great friendships.

Kids Discover Jesus

Children are sponges and hands-on learners, so we take a 5-layered approach to teaching. Each week we begin with a game, then go into a personal narrative, video, Bible reading and craft that all pertain to and reinforce the Bible lesson. The repetition and variety are key for planting those Godly seeds deeply within their hearts.

Made for Kids & Parents

We offer Sunday School classes for adults and children of all ages from 9:30-10:30 on Sunday mornings.

Safety is our Goal

We have a check-in system with identification tags, trained security, and team members who have all passed a comprehensive background check. We also have a system in place to contact you if necessary. We follow a Safe Sanctuary policy to ensure everyone has a background check and proper ratios are maintained.

We want our children to grow up knowing these three very special things.

God made them

God loves them

Jesus is their friend

Sunday Morning Age Groups

DFUMC
Nursery

Infant - 4 Years

Our babies up to 4 years old are loved and cared for by a team of paid and volunteer staff. Mrs. Nancy Ross, a retired school teacher, has been teaching Sunday School to our young children at DFUMC for 40 years! Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. and children up to Pre-K can stay through the conclusion of the worship service at 12:00 noon.

Children will be pampered, played with and diapered with the greatest of care.

As you check your child into his or her classroom, please leave a cell phone number. You will receive a text in case you are needed. Click below to find times and room numbers. We also have Veronica Banks, our nursery worker, along with a rotating group of parents and grandparents who help in this class.

Elementary

Elementary

Children in K-5th grade have Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. on the 2nd floor.

Courtney Hitchens, an elementary school teacher, leads Sunday School, along with a rotating group of parent volunteers.

At 10:30 a.m. parents should pick up their children, so that they can attend the beginning of the 11:00 a.m. worship service as a family.

After the Moments with the Children in the service, teachers will escort children in K-5th grade to Children’s Church on the 2nd floor. There they will learn Bible lessons and participate in crafts and activities.

Wonderful Wednesdays

Starting September 4th, we will launch our Wednesday night programming.

What are Wonderful Wednesdays? Three words: faith, fellowship and fun! Wonderful Wednesdays are a weekly celebration held on Wednesday evenings that allow members of our congregation and our community to gather together for dinner, and engaging classes such as: music, art, recreation, and Bible studies. All are invited to join!

We want to partner with parents, grandparents and caregivers to see children win! We do this by coming along side you as you raise up your family to be followers of Christ. We can never take your place as the number one spiritual influencer in your child’s life, but know that we are in this together with you.
